Rhinoplasty mostly successful

According to a study in JAMA Facial Plastic Surgery, an average of 3.3 percent of rhinoplasties need revision, and according to, 89% of customers who rated their rhinoplasties in the last two years said they were worth it.

This is particularly important since the nose is the central feature of the face, and not everybody wants the same kind of nose. A quick Google search will tell you there are six different types of noses… or 12, or 13, or 14. The broadest categories of human nose shape are “flat,” “concave,” “convex” and “straight” (and “wavy,” but this is usually counted as a deformity). There was a time when facial plastic surgeons usually gave their patients the “straight” nose whether it suited them or not. Modern cosmetic surgeons are much less likely to do this.

Before you get a nose job, stop smoking and don’t take aspirin or ibuprofen. Get someone to drive you home from surgery. After surgery, there’s some swelling, moderate bruising and sometimes temporary skin numbness. The bruising goes away within a week to ten days, while the swelling can last several weeks. Some have begun going online to document their own nose jobs and recoveries for their friends. Don’t rush to any conclusions about what your new nose will look like until the swelling has gone completely down.
