When it comes to your nose, pay for quality

Rhinoplasty is performed in Charlotte to reduce a hump on the bridge of the nose, alter the tip of the nose or repair a deviated septum. The septum is the part of the nose between the nostrils. In a broken nose, the septum is the damaged part. This can lead to sleep apnea.

If you need a nose job either for medical or cosmetic reasons, it would be a big mistake to look for the lowest possible cost. Given that the cost of rhinoplasty includes operating room fee, surgeon’s fee and anesthesiologist fee, among other things, anyone offering a nose job for $1,000 or less is cutting corners you don’t want cut. The least bad option at this price range would be to go to a university where plastic surgery is taught and arrange for the residents in training to do it. If the thought of letting medical students learn their trade using your face makes you nervous, this means you are sane.

Preparation and recovery

Before the surgery, stop smoking and don’t take certain medicines (your surgeon will let you know which ones). You’ll be unconscious for the procedure and won’t be able to drive home afterward, so either find someone to drive you or call a taxi. For the first two to three days afterward, take your pain medication (not aspirin or ibuprofen) and antibiotics, and follow your surgeon’s advice on cold packs. Find something you can still eat, and drink plenty of fluids. Sleep well, keeping your head elevated to reduce swelling.

For the next couple of weeks, don’t wear garments that press against your nose as you put them on. Take your temperature often. Don’t drink for the first three weeks. If you’re a smoker, don’t start again until the process is complete. Be sure to keep any post-operative appointments you made.

Don’t do anything that might raise the blood pressure in your head, such as bending over, doing exercises or lifting anything heavier than a gallon of milk. Most of all, wait until you’re sure the swelling has gone down before you decide if you like the look of your nose.
