Nose job surgery in Charlotte NC: the recovery time after surgery

Nose job surgery: how long does it take to recover afterwards?

Nose job surgery office says that you should plan on taking a little downtime if you are preparing for a rhinoplasty procedure. Before you resume your regular daily activities, you will need time after the surgery to heal. Many patients, before the surgery, want to know about the recovery process and how long the recovery will take. It is not a simple answer. Recovery takes place in stages. You will be able to resume you to your normal life quicker than you will be fully healed.

How long does it take to recover?

It will take, on average, about a full year to completely recover from a rhinoplasty procedure. You might even be able to minimize the recovery time as long as you do everything that you can to maintain your health and take very good care of your nose.

Here is a weekly breakdown to give you a better idea of what to expect during the recovery period:

Week 1: Your facial plastic surgeon will have an examination of your nose and most likely, during this time, will remove your splint. You should be able to resume your normal activities although you may notice some minor bruising around your eyes. Just be very mindful of everything that you do, how much exposure to the sun you get, and don’t put pressure on your face or lift any heavy objects.

Week 2:Most of you facial swelling and bruising should have gone down by now.

Week 3 and 4: At this time, you can resume your cardio exercises if you work out.

Week 6: During this time the bones should be more stable and you can resume any resistance workouts and strength training. But before resuming any strenuous physical activities, consult with your surgeon and general physician.

3 to 6 Months: Abnormal skin sensations and numbness around the nose should be completely gone at this point.

One year: Give or take a few weeks or months, by this point, the healing process should be complete. You also shouldn’t be experiencing any bruising, swelling, redness, discomfort, or pain. The results of the procedure should be fully visible. If you notice any abnormal side effects, you should consult with your plastic surgeon immediately.

Nose job surgery specialists in Charlotte NC also adds that during the recovery period, not all rhinoplasty patients are required to wear a nose cast. In cases where the patient’s nasal bone structure is broken and reshaped will it be necessary to have a nose cast. In this case, depending on your doctor’s recommendation, you may need to wear a nose cast or splint for at least 7-10 days or longer. Until it is strong enough to hold its own shape the nose cast will hold your newly formed nasal structure in place.
