Nose job surgery in your future?
Nose job surgery is a very particular surgery so it’s important to find the most experienced surgeon for your rhinoplasty. When a nose job is performed, it is to correct a deviated septum that can lead to sleep apnea, which can in turn lead to snoring and insomnia in yourself and anyone in earshot. More often, rhinoplasty is performed on the bridge, tip or nostrils of the nose for purely cosmetic reasons.
If you need nose job surgery for whatever reason,it would be a big mistake to look for the lowest possible cost. The cost of this surgery includes the operating room fee and the fees of the surgeon and anesthesiologist. Anyone offering a nose job for $1,000 or less is either cutting corners or practicing in a place with limited malpractice liability. The best option at this price range would be to go to a medical school and arrange for the plastic surgery residents in training to do it. This is as bad an idea as it sounds.
The preparation and recovery
Before the surgery, stop smoking and avoid certain medicines (your surgeon will know which ones). Get someone to drive you home after the surgery. For the first two to three days afterward, take your pain medication (not aspirin or ibuprofen) and antibiotics, and follow the advice of your surgeon on cold packs. Find something you can still eat, and drink plenty of fluids. Sleep well, keeping your head elevated to reduce swelling.
For the next couple of weeks, avoid sweaters and other garments that press against your nose as you put them on. Take your temperature often. Stay away from alcohol for the first three weeks. If you smoke, do not start again until you are fully healed. Be sure to keep any post-operative appointments you made.
Try not to do anything that might raise the blood pressure in your head, such as bending over, doing exercises or lifting anything heavier than a gallon of milk. Wait until the swelling has gone down before you decide if you like the look of your nose.
