Rhinoplasty recovery the key to success

Rhinoplasty recovery the key to success

Rhinoplasty recovery hinges on getting the right Charlotte surgeon

Rhinoplasty recovery is just as important as your rhinoplasty surgery. From the point of view of the facial plastic surgery customer, rhinoplasty itself is the easy part. You sleep through the whole thing, after all — the surgeon does all the work. The hard part is what comes after — the long, slow process of recovering from the surgery. This means days or weeks away from other people, avoiding what might otherwise be enjoyable activities. And no matter with what skill or experience your surgery was performed, anything that goes wrong during this stage can render the whole operation worse than useless. This is why it is so important to plan ahead.

Two weeks before the Charlotte surgery, stop smoking, drinking and taking aspirin, ibuprofen, vitamin E or certain herbal supplements. Get someone to drive you home, or call a cab. For the first two to three days afterward, take your antibiotics and follow the advice of your surgeon on cold packs. Find something you can still eat, and drink a lot of fluids. When you sleep, keep your head elevated to reduce swelling, using a neck pillow if necessary.

For the next few weeks

For the next couple of weeks, avoid any kind of clothing that presses against your nose as you put it on or take it off. Keep an eye on your health by taking your temperature often. Stay away from alcohol for the first three weeks.

You must not blow your nose. If you are wondering how to avoid this, you can greatly reduce the chance of it happening if you stay at home away from allergens and people who might be carrying respiratory ailments, wash your hands regularly, and trying not to touch your face. Do not do any heavy exercise, try to avoid lifting anything heavier than a gallon of milk and do not bend over if you can avoid it. The object of all this is to keep the blood pressure in your head low.

But the most important thing of all is to stay in touch with your surgeon and keep follow-up appointments. You should wait until the swelling is completely down before you decide if you like your new nose.
